On July 21st, the General Assembly of the Academy sat for its 130th meeting. Prof. Reza Davari Ardakani chaired the meeting in which 34 fellows out of 55 were present.
Following the approval of the previous meeting's minutes, Prof. Mohammad Soltanieh, fellow of the Department of Engineering Sciences of the Academy, delivered a speech entitled "The Role of Policy Papers in the Global Challenge of Climate Change". Prof. Soltanieh became a fellow of the Academy in March, 2022.
Then, Prof. Mohammad Mehdi Sheikh-Jabbari, fellow of the Department of Basic Sciences of the Academy, presented a speech on "A Report on ICTP Center and Its Activities". At the end of his speech, Prof. Davari awarded Prof. Sheikh-Jabbari the order of the fellow membership of the Academy.
Afterwards, the proposal of the Department of Engineering Sciences of the Academy on the associate membership of Prof. Behrouz Gatmiri, professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Tehran, for a four-year term, was proposed and approved by secret ballot. Prof. Gatmir has been a guest scholar of the Department since 2015.
Finally, the proposal of the Department of Basic Sciences of the Academy for the associate memberships of Prof. Fariborz Azarpanah, Prof. Saeid Azam and Prof. Ali Reza Medghalchi for a further four-year term was proposed and approved by secret vote.
