This summer,the Department of Islamic Sciences of the Academy held two meetings on "Science in the Islamic Civilizations". The attendees included the president, fellows and associate fellows of the Academy.

Here are some of the topics discussed in those meetings: destiny of knowledge in the history of Islamic thought, challenge of epistemology and existentialism, Greece and Iran mental relation, scientific evaluation of Islamic philosophy, confrontation between science and philosophy, informative and principal approach to science, jurisprudents and mystics' attitude to knowledge in the Islamic civilization, Muslim philosophers' approach to natural and experimental knowledge, requirements for the development of civilized thought, relation between Islamic tradition and philosophical thought.
