The Scientific Council of the Academy held its 496th meeting on November 24th. Prof. Davari Ardakani, chaired the meeting attended by the secretary and chairmen of the scientific departments of the Academy.

After the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting, the letter of the president of the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA) regarding the nomination of the Academy's candidate to participate in the global project “Climate Change and Health” was set forth. After discussion, Prof. Yousef Sobouti was selected as the Academy’s representative to participate in this project. 

Then, Prof. Shahedi’s proposal to organize targeted lectures to be presented by the Academy’s fellows on the current macro and major issues of the country was discussed and approved. It was agreed that his proposal be submitted to the president of the Academy.

The Council also adopted the cooperation of Dr. Arash Dourandish as invited scholar with the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the Academy for a two-year term.

The meeting continued with Prof. Sohrabpour’s report on holding the fifth round of Alameh Tabtabaei Award Ceremony in which the awards were presented to a number of distinguished professors and researchers of the country. In this ceremony, eight fellows, associate fellows and invited scholars of the Academy were among the winners of the awards.
