Presided over by Prof. Aref, the 21st meeting of the Commission for the Advancement of Mathematics in the Country was held on January 24th.

 

 

At first, Prof. Aref welcomed the Commission members. This was followed by Prof. Toomanian's speech on the decline in quality and lack of interest in studying mathematics at high schools. He referred to this as a serious threat to mathematics and engineering disciplines in universities and proposed strategies for eliminating this situation.

 

The meeting continued with the approval of the legal membership of the Union of Iranian Societies of Mathematical Sciences in the Commission for the Advancement of Mathematics in the Country and the natural memberships of Profs. Hamid Pezeshk, Zahra Gooya and Soheila Gholam Azad in the Commission and its workgroup.
