On December 14th, the General Assembly of the Academy sat for its 120th meeting. Prof. Reza Davari Ardakani chaired this meeting in which 40 fellows participated.


Initially, the fellows discussed and exchanged views on Mustafa Prize awarded by the Islamic Republic of Iran. It was decided that the views of the General Assembly be submitted to the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution for consideration.


After the approval of the previous meeting's minutes, the fellowship proposal of Prof. Seyed Mehdi Alvani, for the Department of Human Sciences of the Academy, was considered and approved by ballot. Prof. Alvani is a faculty member of Allameh Tabatabai University. He was the associate fellow of the Academy from 1999 to 13th December, 2017. He holds a Ph.D. in Management from the University of California.


Moreover, the associate memberships of 3 associate fellows of the Department of Engineering Sciences, 2 associate fellows of the Department of Human Sciences and 12 associate fellows of the Department of Basic Sciences were extended for a further four-year term.


At the end, Prof. Fathollah Moztarzadeh, fellow of the Academy, presented a speech on "What is knowledge-based?" This was followed by exchange of views on the status of science and its application in the country.
